“Wonderwall” – Sounds of Marketing
Oasis – (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (1995)
Watch it here
Today is gonna be the day
That they’re gonna throw it back to you
I don’t believe opportunity only knocks once. But I do think peak performers see and maximize opportunities. They have a unique understanding of their market, the competition and the politics of their organization. When given a chance, they’re ready and jump at it.
By now you should’ve somehow
Realized what you gotta do
In addition to knowing your market, you need to truly know yourself. Instead of being either too hard or too easy on yourself, be honest when assessing your strengths and weaknesses. Talk with people you trust and ask for feedback. Then, develop a personal and professional growth plan based on your strengths and weaknesses.
Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
It might sound obvious, but most people fail to take purposeful action to make it happen. Then, their passion wanes and others perceive them as lacking motivation.
I’m sure you’ve heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
Knowing yourself and planning accordingly will increase your confidence. You will be able to ignore negative noise from others and inside your own head. Your focus can be on meaningful goals instead.
And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There’s no Staples button for this. It’s not easy. But it’s doable.
There are many things
I would like to say to you
But I don’t know how
Because maybe
You’re gonna be the one that saves me
Ask for feedback, new responsibilities, a chance to present your ideas or rationale. You might be surprised who up ends in your corner.
And after all
You’re my Wonderwall
Don’t wonder what’s on the other side of your “wall.” Find a way to get through it and to where you want to go.
