‘The Man’ Among Boys

I had the chance to see Terrelle Pryor of Jeannette in the WPIAL AA Football Championship at Heinz Field yesterday. The kid is ridiculous. As you’ve probably read or heard, he’s kind of like a man among boys during high school football games. But, in the post-game interviews, you realize he is indeed just a kid. Boy, can he play…something as simple as a quarterback sneak turns into a huge touchdown run.

His size is impressive but the most telling thing, in my opinion, is how he moves and carries himself. You can just tell he’s special…maybe the best high school player ever in Western PA…which is saying a lot considering one of the top five all-time collegiate players, Tony Dorsett, is from the area, as well as Joe Montana, Joe Namath and a host of others. Pryor has an incredibly long way to go to be included in that group post-high school…However, as far as high school dominance, he’s the cream of the crop. If you can find a way to see Jeannette during their next three wins and a state title, do it. You won’t regret it.
